Playing a High Pair in Seven Card Stud
After a Three of a kind, a high pair is definitely one of the greatest seven card stud hands to start the poker online game with. Just for the sake of clarification, a high pair is only tens or better. If you have a pair with a lower value, you don’t stand much of a chance of winning- so it’s definitely not a high value hand to start with.
The best kinds of high pairs are in your hole because other players can’t use them as part of their poker online hand. Also, they won’t know what you’ve got (unless you have a really terrible poker face). You can use a high pair in the hole to your advantage by subtly raising the stakes of the game. Remember to be subtle, or the other players will realize that you are holding a monster.
Another trick when playing high pairs in stud poker is to be mindful of the other cards on the table. If you have a low value door card that matches a card on the table, you can raise more aggressively. The other players will think that you only have the low value pair. Of course, the opposite holds true, if you look like you are not holding anything players may get suspicious easily.
